Gerson’s Bio

Gerson has been coaching gymnastics for over 30 years and is now a renowned coach in the state of Georgia, surrounding states, as well as in his country of Guatemala. His coaching career began in 1992 in Guatemala where he started at a gymnastics camp. From there Gerson began coaching preschool and recreational classes and became part of the competitive teams’ coaching staff at a private gymnastics’ academy. Gerson joined the National Gymnastics Federation, had great success with his gymnasts and was invited to be part of the Guatemalan National Team Staff. Gerson went on to have gymnasts compete on the Guatemalan National Team and served at the National Team as an assistant coach at the Central American Games and Central American & Caribbean Games.

Due to Gerson’s success with his gymnasts, he was given the opportunity to start a new gymnastics academy in Guatemala. Gerson was Director of all programs and built the programs from zero. Due to his leadership, they became one of the best-known programs in the city of Guatemala.

In 2005 Gerson was invited to the United States to work for one of the top gymnastics’ programs in the Atlanta, Georgia area at the Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta. While at GAA, Gerson was an integral part of the programs’ success. During his 13.5 years at GAA, he had yearly individual and team State and Regional Champions. In 2014, while at GAA, Gerson began serving as a member of the USAG Georgia Gymnastics Committee.

In September of 2018, Gerson became the Co-Owner and director of coaching at Atlanta North Stars Gymnastics. Under his direction, Atlanta North Stars has qualified athletes to the USAG state, regional and national championships and in 2021, Gerson made his Nastia Liukin Cup debut with athlete Amber Lowe.

During his time at ANSG, Gerson and his wife Paula co-founded Victory Gymnastics Events, LLC, a company that organizes summer camps, gymnastics meets, and provides opportunities for athletes aiming to compete at the college level. Through Victory Gymnastics Events, LLC, Gerson dedicates his summers to offering athlete and coach education at camps across Georgia, neighboring states, and internationally. Gerson In addition to co-owning and coaching at Atlanta North Stars, Gerson provides athletes and coaches education at several camps each summer in the state of Georgia, surrounding states as well as Internationally.
In 2023, Gerson and Paula expanded Victory Gymnastics Events, LLC to include two additional gymnastics meets: The Friendship Classic and Victory Classic. These meets provide high-level competition for local gymnastics clubs and teams from surrounding states.

Gerson’s coaching experiences while in Guatemala:

VII Central American Games in 2001, Guatemala City, Guatemala 2001 where the Guatemalan National Team achieved the Gold medal as a team.
In 2002 Gerson was part of the coaches with the National Team in the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, El Salvador.
